Executive Mansion Rejects FrontPage Africa’s Claims on Purported Confidential Intelligence Report Submitted to the President

The Presidency wishes to state unequivocally that President Boakai did not receive, and has not received to date, any such purported report referenced by the newspaper. Any suggestion that such a document was submitted to the President and ignored is false, misleading, and entirely without factual basis.

The publication relies on an unverified document whose authenticity has neither been established nor corroborated by the Office of the President. Presenting allegations as established facts without verification has the potential to mislead the public, erode confidence in public institutions, and undermine responsible public discourse.

The public is therefore advised to dismiss and reject these false claims, which appear calculated to misinform citizens and divert attention from the significant efforts being undertaken by this Administration to confront drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.

The Boakai Administration has consistently demonstrated through both policy and action that combating illicit drugs remains one of its foremost national security priorities. Since assuming office, President Boakai has taken decisive measures to strengthen Liberia’s response to narcotics trafficking and substance abuse.

Among these actions, the President voluntarily subjected himself to a public drug test as a demonstration of transparency, accountability, and his commitment to leading by example. He subsequently encouraged officials of Government to do likewise as part of a broader effort to promote integrity and public confidence.

The President also established a high-level inter-agency committee to coordinate the national response to the growing drug threat, strengthened cooperation among security institutions, supported reforms and leadership changes within key law enforcement agencies where necessary to improve operational effectiveness, and authorized additional logistical and operational support to enhance the capacity of agencies responsible for combating drug trafficking.

Following the recent seizure of approximately 238 kilograms of cocaine valued at about US$19 million at Roberts International Airport, President Boakai immediately directed that the matter be investigated thoroughly, professionally, and independently.

The Government has since provided its full support to the ongoing investigation while maintaining close collaboration with domestic and international law enforcement partners to ensure that every individual connected to the trafficking operation, regardless of status or position, is identified and brought before the law.

Beyond enforcement, the Administration continues to address the public health and social consequences of substance abuse through coordinated initiatives involving law enforcement agencies, health authorities, youth development institutions, community organizations, and international partners.

The Office of the Presidential Press Secretary also cautions the public to exercise vigilance regarding the increasing circulation of fabricated and AI-generated documents falsely attributed to the Government of Liberia and the Office of the President.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has made it easier to produce convincing but entirely false documents. Citizens are therefore urged to verify purported government communications through official Government channels before accepting or sharing such materials.

The Office further encourages responsible journalism grounded in verification, accuracy, and fairness, particularly on matters affecting national security. Investigative reporting serves an important democratic purpose, but allegations involving purported classified or confidential government documents should be subjected to rigorous authentication before being presented as fact.

The Executive Mansion remains committed to transparency, accountability, the protection of Liberia’s national security, and sustaining the fight against drug trafficking, organized crime, and all threats to the safety and well-being of the Liberian people.

Signed:

Atty. Kula B.N. Fofana

Presidential Press Secretary
