Executive Mansion, Monrovia - President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., on Monday received in audience a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program.
The delegation, led by Mission Chief Mr. Daehaeng Kim, also included Mr. Aidar Abdychev, IMF Resident Representative, Mr. Giuseppe Cipollone, Senior Economist for Fiscal, and Tamsir Cham, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director.
The head of the delegation expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged support for Liberia's economic recovery and the ARREST Agenda, which aims to achieve macroeconomic policy objectives aligned with the country's development priorities.
The delegation is in the country to evaluate ongoing policy priorities and negotiate a new four-year ECF program running from September 2024 to 2027.
The Liberian Leader was commended for promoting transparency and accountability by declaring and publishing his assets.
In response, President Boakai expressed gratitude to the IMF for considering Liberia for the ECF program and emphasized his commitment in building institutions and holding public officials accountable, fighting corruption, and using the country's limited resources to develop infrastructure and improve livelihoods for all Liberian citizens.
He sought the IMF's support in building a new Liberia and emphasized his determination to lead positive change in the country.
This meeting builds on previous discussions in Washington, D.C. in last December and earlier meetings in February with President Boakai.
