Boakai Inspects First Batch of 285 Heavy-Duty Road Equipment at Freeport of Monrovia

On February 24, 2026, Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. toured 137 newly arrived road construction machines at the Freeport of Monrovia, marking the first batch of 285 heavy-duty equipment procured by the Government of Liberia to accelerate nationwide road development.

The equipment—popularly referred to as “Yellow Machines”—forms part of the Administration’s broader infrastructure transformation program under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. The machines will be deployed across Liberia’s counties to rehabilitate and expand the national road network, improve access to markets, schools, and health facilities, boost agricultural productivity, and strengthen connectivity between rural and urban communities. Additional shipments are expected in the coming weeks to complete the full consignment.

During the visit, President Boakai also inspected a warehouse at the port containing relief and educational supplies donated by Trevor Stephen Cockings, President and Founder of His Church Charity in the United Kingdom. The donation includes new shoes, clothing, jerseys, slippers, and essential school supplies for vulnerable children and students in underserved communities.

The materials are being distributed under the Government’s “Back to My Classroom” initiative, which aims to reduce poverty-related barriers to school attendance. Initial distributions have begun in Rivercess, Grand Bassa, and other counties, reaching approximately 36 schools so far. The program is being implemented in coordination with the Ministries of Gender and Education, with strict accountability measures to ensure transparency.

President Boakai reaffirmed that infrastructure development and human capital investment remain central to his Administration’s vision for national growth, inclusive prosperity, and long-term development for Liberia.
